The Real Developments in Bellur

In my previous blog, I briefly tried to explain the vision of Guruji on Bellur and the developments that are taking place to fulfill his vision. You have seen what kind of buildings have come up in Bellur to help the people of Bellur. Construction of buildings, I think is not a big deal. The real challenge for the trust is to create infrastructure for the students and people of Bellur to avail the services without levying any kind of fees. The entire Iyengar yoga community is actively working to make Guruji's vision a reality. Most prominently the International Iyengar Yoga Community is playing a crucial role in mobilizing students and funds to aid the Trust to meet the huge expenditure involved in running the activities of BKSSNT. Guruji found that the girl child of Bellur is not getting proper education after grade 7 as there is no high school in the village. The parents were not willing to send their girl child to the neighboring village schools. After establishing a s

Guruji's Vision on Bellur

As a part of my trip to Bellur, this is the second edition of my update on Bellur. In this I decided to share the vision of Guruji on Bellur and the developments that are taking place to fulfill his vision. Guruji had a vision on Bellur, his birth place. He saw the people of Bellur are suffering from Poverty, Illiteracy, Unemployment and ill-health. With a vision to help the people of Bellur he established a trust named after his parents "Bellur Krishnamachar and Seshamma Smaraka Nidhi Trust."  Under the Umbrella of this Trust, he established a High School, a College, a Hospital, a Yoga Hall etc imparting education, health and employment to the people of Bellur. Today I am going to guide you to the trip of Bellur through the lenses of my camera. And rightly so, Guruji's Trust imparts the wealth of health throu

Bellur has become my regular destination since 2012 after my teacher took us to Bellur for a workshop. Bellur has a special importance to Iyengar yogis as it is the birth place of Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar and Guruji had a vision to help the people of Bellur. He then formed a trust in the name of his parents Bellur Krishnamachar Seshamma Smaraka Nidhi Trust and expanded his services to help them. With the support he received from his students all over the World, he soon established a High School followed by a college imparting education up to Graduation, built up a Yoga Hall to teach yoga for health and well-being and a Hospital providing medical facilities to over 20 villages in the surroundings.  I visited Bellur early this year for an Iyengar Yoga Workshop with Rita Keller. As my travel is mostly connected with Yoga, I again got some opportunity to explore few places in and around Bellur. I must thank Rita Keller for taking us to some important places around.  So in the coming
